History

Howard Thomson was the Co-founder of Discount Pawn Randgate together with Peter Combrink in 1993. The humble beginnings of a small 100m2 shop 28 years ago has grown into us being really blessed in this current large facility. The building is owned and managed by Howard. Peter and Howard separated and dissolved their partnership 20 years ago and now Howard is the only member of the business assisted by a great team behind him. Rudi Smith and Wouter Vorster are the awesome managers at Discount Pawn Randgate and are available for any of your queries. Wouter runs retail and second-hand sales alongside Rudi who runs the pawn and the day-to-day operations of the business. These young men are highly motivated and very well trained in the retail arena and especially in pawn broking. Wouter has over 16 Years of pawn broking experience working side by side with Howard whereas Rudi has over 13 years of retail and management experience behind him. Together they make a formidable team and are leading Discount Pawn Randgate into the new era. The rest of the team is just as amazing and I would like to mention each one personally. Sanet Thomson is an extremely gifted retail specialist with over 20 years of experience and assists with the management duties as well. Next is Manuel Ubisse who has been with us for over 13 years. Manuel runs the pawn stores with a great amount of knowledge behind him. James Seanego has been with us for over 14 years. James is a front counter pawn broker and buyer specialising in hi tech goods, and is a very capable and popular member of the team. Andries Kgabedi has been with us for over 5 years now and is also a front counter pawn broker and an external buyer. Andries is well trained and able to help any one of our clients with anything. Sonny boy Mogapi (Sanza) is a great retailer busy learning the art of pawn broking and second-hand retail. We have KG who is also a great retailer and is also a friendly face you will see delivering your items or collecting your items from your house. Nkosi is also a retailer and is also a friendly face you will see out and about with either Sanza or KG. Itumeleng is a retailer too and enjoys helping customers on the floor. All our retailers are knowledgeable and ready and willing to assist you wherever they can. Our newest members of the team are Poppie Gaboilmwe Kgaratsi and Stephanie Smith. Poppie is now learning the art of retail sales and keeping our retail space neat and tidy. Steph works mainly on marketing our business and managing the Online Store. She creates all our social media content and takes photos and uploads our stock onto the online store and our various social media platforms.  She is also learning the art of retail sales and will from time-to-time work in the front assisting where she can while fulfilling her marketing duties. You as the client can rest assured that this team of people can assist you with any of your needs.
